General Information
Harmergreen Wood is set in 44 acres of beautiful old woodland. The main strength of this attractive campsite is its simplicity. Toilets, drinking water and a small providore can be found within "Fort William", a collection of wooden buildings at the centre of the site. The site is entirely wooded, apart from a few glades, and is surrounded by pleasant countryside.
Accomodation is camping only. Campfires are allowed and firewood is provided.
Note - There is no mains electricity on the site. There are also no bins - a skip may be provided, but otherwise rubbish must be removed. There is a tip ~2 miles away in Stevenage, open until 6pm on Sundays.
Facilities
Flushing toilets.
Washing facilities.
Kitchens with gas hob and oven.

Local Amenities
There is a parade of shops at the foot of the woods in a small village called Oaklands, where there is a butcher's, fish and chip shop, grocer's/greengrocer's, newsagent and post office.
There is a 24 hour Tesco at J4 of the A1(M)
Directions
Take the A1(M) to J6.
Take the B197 North-East, signposted towards Knebworth.*
Follow the road into Oaklands.
Just after the North Star pub on the left, turn right onto Lower Mardley Hill.
Take the first right into Robbery Bottom Lane.
The entrance to the site is on the right, just after you pass under the Viaduct.
Follow the track into the wooded area, and park in the small carpark on the left. Please park tightly as there is not a great deal of space.
Please do not drive your car off the main track, other than into the car park.
*NOTE: Junction 6 of the A1(M) is somewhat complicated and turning onto the B197 is not straightforward - we recommend that you consult a map. Otherwise, once you have come off the motorway try following signs for the A1(M) North - this should take you to the roundabout where you find the turning for the B197 to Knebworth.

SatNav
AL6 0UL - this is the postcode of the Warden's house, on Robbery Bottom Lane, so should get you to the right neck of the woods. Then continue down Robbery Bottom Lane until you pass under the viaduct - the entrance to the site is the next turning on the right.
In general we do not recommend the exclusive use of Satellite Navigation systems to find LRP sites, as they rarely have a post code and the entrance to the site may be difficult to find. We therefore strongly recommend that you also have a copy of the directions and map above in case your SatNav leads you astray.
Public Transport
Train:
Nearest Station - Welwyn North
It is about 20 mins to 1/2 an hour walk from Welwyn North to the site - follow the railway line North and you should find it.
For timetable information, use National Rail Enquiries.
Taxis:
Apple Cars is at Welwyn North Train Station.
- Apple Cars: 01438 712121
If you will be getting a taxi we recommend that you take a copy of the map and directions above - many of the local taxi drivers do not know where the site is and it's not easy to find if you don't know where you're going.
